Eric Rosa, alongside promoter Belgica Peña, announced his upcoming fight in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on April 5th. The event is set to be headlined by a bout between Rosa and Yudel Reyes, marking Rosa’s move to the junior flyweight category.
Rosa, a former WBA strawweight secondary titlist, will step into the ring at 108 pounds for this fight. The anticipated 12-round match will be showcased by Triller TV at the Centro Olimpico’s Pabellón de Esgrima in Santo Domingo, DR.
Having faced challenges due to weight restrictions in his last fight, Rosa (6-0, 2 KOs) decided to make the switch to a higher weight class. His promoter, Belgica Peña, expressed confidence in Rosa’s abilities, stating that this fight is the initial step towards his goal of becoming a world champion at 108 years old.
Among the notable champions in this weight class are Kenshiro Terachi, the Ring’s 108-pound champion holding the WBC and WBA titles, and Jonathan Bomba Gonzalez at No. 1 on the WBO title list. Sivenati Nontsinga from South Africa recently reclaimed the IBF title.
Reyes (16-2, 8 KOs), Rosa’s upcoming opponent, has shown resilience in his career, bouncing back from a knockout loss and securing a knockout victory in his last fight. The upcoming bout will be his second appearance in Santo Domingo.
Rosa’s boxing journey has been centered in Santo Domingo thus far, with his previous matches garnering attention and accolades. The 24-year-old fighter, known as “Mini Pac-Man,” has his sights set on the WBA Gold Title in this upcoming fight.
