It was known that Georges St-Pierre had stomach issues.
What wasn’t known was the extent of the pain St-Pierre endured before his middleweight title bout against Michael Bisping at UFC 217. His vomiting became so severe that the fight almost got canceled.
St-Pierre (26-2) emerged victorious over Bisping with a third-round submission, concluding the epic rivalry between two of the sport’s all-time greats.
St-Pierre explained, “I retired mainly due to developing ileitis, which caused a lot of stress. This intestinal condition first appeared during my fight with Bisping when I struggled to gain weight. The doctor attributed it to my forced eating. Once diagnosed, I resorted to intermittent fasting, which relieved all my symptoms.” pound 4 pounds (Transcription: mixed martial arts news)

St-Pierre confessed, “I’m off medication now, but I used to heavily rely on it. When I noticed blood in the bathroom, I feared cancer. I decided to wait until after the fight to investigate further with a colonoscopy. I had to endure laxatives to prepare for the procedure while trying to gain weight instead of losing it.”
Despite rumors of potential matchups with Khabib Nurmagomedov or Oscar De La Hoya, St-Pierre, who will soon be 43, has no intention of returning to competitive fighting. He cites the weight cuts as a deterrent, which means bidding farewell to those leisurely visits to the ice cream parlor.
