Ryan Garcia Expresses Doubt Over Lowry’s Ability to Take Punches, Blaming PBC Politics for Blocking Fight

Ryan Garcia took to social media to mock Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero following his loss of the WBA light welterweight title to Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz via an eighth-round TKO last Saturday night.

Garcia criticized Lowry’s current state, claiming that his jaw is too damaged to withstand punches anymore. With recent losses such as a 6th round knockout to Gervonta “Tank” Davis in 2022 and a leaked video showing him being knocked out by a sparring partner, Garcia believes Lowry is no longer fit to compete.

Lowry’s latest defeat came at the hands of Cruz, a much smaller opponent who moved up from lightweight to challenge him. Ryan Garcia is convinced that Lowry’s fighting career is over due to his compromised jaw.

What’s disappointing is Lowry’s decision to skip negotiations with Ryan in favor of facing Pitbull Cruz for more money on the undercard of Tim Tzu vs. Sebastian Fundora. This move has left Ryan feeling like he missed out on a significant opportunity.

This year has been marked by Lowry’s questionable choices, with his refusal to face Ryan and opting for a lower-profile match against Pitbull instead.

Doubts Arise Over Romero’s Ability to Take Hits

Ryan Garcia criticized Romero’s performance against Pitbull Cruz, stating that Romero lacks experience, has a weakened jaw, and cannot withstand punches. Garcia shared his views on social media regarding Romero’s boxing abilities.

Rory’s success in boxing has largely been attributed to strategic promotions by Mayweather Promotions and a controversial victory over Ismael Barroso last May, a fight he nearly lost.

Reflecting on his attempts to arrange a fight with Lowry in the past, Ryan mentioned feeling pressure from the competition and Lowry’s reluctance to face him even after notable wins.

Despite orders from the WBC for them to fight, the matchup never materialized due to various reasons, including mandatory obligations.

PBC Political Hindrances

Following a victorious match on April 20, in which Ryan claimed to have “put Haney to sleep,” he was advised to face WBA light welterweight champion Pitbull Cruz next. However, Ryan expressed doubt that the fight would materialize, citing PBC’s lack of interest in making it happen.

Cruz expressed his willingness to fight Ryan, highlighting that PBC’s stance on the matter may hinder any potential matchup between them.

Cruz also mentioned his interest in fighting other champions like IBF light welterweight champion Sabriel Matias and WBO champion Teofimo Lopez, but the involvement of different promotional groups could complicate these fights. It is suggested that if PBC allows Cruz to fight these champions, a fight with Ryan should also be feasible.

Ryan expressed frustration with PBC’s politics, stating that they restrict potential opponents unless a big fight like with Gervonta “Tank” Davis is in question. He believes that PBC is reluctant to make certain matches happen, including a bout with himself.
