Dustin Poirier Ventures into Acting Career Following Conor McGregor’s Lead to Hollywood

Not only Conor McGregor aspires to make it big in the movie industry, but UFC star Dustin Poirier also sees potential in pursuing an acting career.

After McGregor’s debut in Doug Liman’s film “Road House” alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, Poirier is now open to the idea of gracing the screen himself.

McGregor made waves in Hollywood playing the role of Knox, a strong character who crosses paths with Dalton, a former UFC fighter portrayed by Gyllenhaal.

During McGregor’s break from the sport due to a leg injury suffered in his fight with Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021, he decided to explore the acting world.

Although Poirier is yet to watch McGregor’s performance in Road House, he recently featured in an ad for the film Monkey Man, sparking his interest in potentially pursuing his own acting career.

“I’m interested, it’s something new,” Poirier expressed.Shared thoughts with Theo FungWhen questioned about acting, Poirier shared, “It’s exciting because it’s uncharted territory for me. It presents a new challenge and keeps me engaged.”

“I thrive on staying busy. That’s just who I am. When I’m not focused on fighting, I need to keep myself occupied. I’ve mentioned this countless times. As long as there’s something to tackle, it doesn’t have to be right in front of me. Whether it’s filming a movie or expanding a business, you have to take action.”

Poirier emphasized that staying active is vital not only in his fighting career but also in his personal life.

“Without a plan, I become my own enemy,” Poirier admitted. “If I don’t have goals to strive for, I’m at risk of self-destructive behavior. I spiral into negativity and make poor choices. That’s why I set objectives and remain occupied.”

Poirier opened up about a low point in his life following his defeat at UFC 291 against Justin Gaethje, where retirement crossed his mind.

“There were moments, yeah,” Poirier confessed.Interview with MMA hour When asked about retirement thoughts, he said, “I don’t know, man. It’s scary.”

‘The Diamond’ regained his momentum at UFC 299, delivering a remarkable performance with a knockout victory over Benoit Saint-Denis.

It remains to be seen if Dustin Poirier, known for his UFC achievements, will transition successfully into the world of acting like his rival Conor McGregor.
