Conor McGregor is hitting the gym again to get ready for his upcoming bout against Michael Chandler at UFC 303. However, he’s not quite done with his drinking spree just yet.
In recent years, McGregor has transitioned from a full-time fighter to a successful alcohol entrepreneur with a side gig in mixed martial arts. After selling off his share in the Proper 12 whiskey brand for a massive sum, he’s now venturing into the brewing business with Forged Irish Stout. His social media feeds are brimming with posts of “The Notorious” enjoying his beverage creations.
But all of this might come to a halt soon. McGregor’s recent Instagram post giving props to his buddy Justin Bieber contained a noteworthy hint to cut back on the bottle.
“Five more nights of indulgence and that’s a wrap,” he declared.
This means McGregor’s detox deadline would fall around April 25th, giving him a nine-week window until the June 27th weigh-in for UFC 303.
Michael Chandler has taken note of McGregor’s drinking habits but still expects a formidable adversary to face him in the ring in Las Vegas.
“There’s great power in hearing dedication and zeal from someone perceived as casual,” remarked Chandler in August. “Never undermine the human resolve.”
“I’m training hard every night, and I’m still going to beat you,” McGregor retorted.
Will nine weeks suffice for Conor to shake off the impact of being the face of alcohol all these years? Does it even matter? Ryan Garcia disclosed he was drinking nightly before his triumphant win over Devin Haney. Jon Jones conquered UFC’s finest despite partying hard during fight week.
But can McGregor safeguard his legacy and overcome a significant leg injury to face a formidable opponent? This is yet another concern for fans as McGregor’s highly anticipated return draws near.
