This week, Francis Ngannou announced the heartbreaking news of his 18-month-old son’s passing.

The former UFC heavyweight champion, who recently ventured into boxing with PFL, took to social media to express his thoughts after the devastating event unfolded. 237online.com.

In his statement, Ngannou questioned the cruelty of life and the pain it brings. He wrote, “What is the purpose of life if what we fight so hard to escape is ultimately what hurts us the most? Why is life so unfair and unforgiving? Why does life always give us the opposite of what we desire? I’m so exhausted.”

Since his last fight result against Anthony Joshua earlier this year, 37-year-old Ngannou has not competed in the octagon.

He further expressed his heartbreak saying, “It’s too soon for him to go, but he’s no longer with us. My little son, my companion, my buddy Kobe, was full of vitality and happiness. But now, he rests lifeless. I called out his name repeatedly, but there’s no answer. I used to be my best self when I was with him, but now I feel lost. Life is exceptionally cruel when it strikes where it hurts the most. How do I cope? How can I carry on with this unbearable loss? I’m clueless and lost, so any guidance or comfort would be greatly appreciated.”

The Cameroonian combat community has rallied behind Ngannou with a wave of support.

Coach Eric Nikcik added, “These past days have been incredibly challenging. No words can ease the sorrow we all share for the Ngannou family at this time. Let’s all keep Francis and his loved ones in our thoughts and let this serve as a reminder of life’s fragile nature. Express your love more often as tomorrow is never promised.”

The exact cause of the tragic loss has not been disclosed.
