A fighter from Fall River is working towards his goal of earning a spot in the UFC by participating in a fight where UFC officials will be granting contracts in the Contender Series. Mitch Raposo, who trains at the Regiment Training Center, has an impressive track record of 9 wins and 1 loss at the age of 25. He began his training at 12 and has excelled in kickboxing, wrestling, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, winning the Cage Titans Flyweight Championship in 2018.

The UFC introduced Dana White’s Contender Series in 2017 to discover new talent, and Raposo has previously competed in the series, facing a defeat against undefeated Jake Hadley. The next Contender Series event is scheduled to begin on August 13 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, where fighters will vie for contracts. Yorgan de Castro, also from Fall River, earned his UFC contract through the Contender Series in 2019.

All the fights will be broadcast on ESPN+ starting at 8:00 p.m. ET.
