Midnight Mania: ‘Bright Future Ahead’ for TJ Dillashaw

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Former UFC Bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw never intended to retire. However, due to a persistently injured shoulder, he had to step back, missing out on a chance to reclaim UFC glory in his ill-fated 2022 fight against Aljamain Sterling.

Could there still be hope for him?

Just recently, Dillashaw, who was previously unsure about retiring, shared some positive news following his latest surgery. He’s feeling optimistic about what lies ahead. “Seem to be healing great from last surgery,” Dillashaw shared on Instagram. “Will know more in the coming weeks but the future looks bright.”

Before his series of shoulder surgeries, Dillashaw had a successful run as the UFC Bantamweight champion, winning the title by defeating Renan Barao and later reclaiming it by beating Cody Garbrandt twice. However, his pursuit of becoming a two-division champion led to a setback when he lost his 135-pound belt due to a failed drug test and a subsequent two-year absence from the sport while chasing Henry Cejudo’s Flyweight title.

Dillashaw wouldn’t be the first MMA fighter to make a comeback from a short retirement.
