Avious Griffin, originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he honed his fighting skills on the streets, is now training alongside RING welterweight champion Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford in pursuit of success in the boxing realm. Griffin is set to go up against Lesther Espino at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, just before the main event featuring featherweights John Leandro and Frank Gonzalez. The matches will be live-streamed on BoxingInsider.com and on the Boxing Insider Twitter account.

At 30 years old, Griffin boasts an undefeated record of 13-0 with an impressive 12 knockouts. In his most recent fight on July 22, he knocked out Jonathan Eniz in the second round. Growing up surrounded by three older brothers who were bullies, Griffin tapped into his inner resilience to pursue a career in boxing, despite having no family background in the sport. Following a knee injury that halted his college football aspirations, Griffin transitioned to professional boxing in June 2016 at the age of 22.

Under the mentorship of trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, who also guides Terence Crawford, Griffin has gleaned valuable insights into Crawford’s exceptional talent. Looking to stay active this year to propel his career forward, Griffin recognizes the significance of knockouts in boxing and is dedicated to enhancing his punching power.

Griffin self-identifies as a blend of Mike Tyson and Deontay Wilder, underscoring his proficiency in securing knockouts. Through intense training with McIntyre, Griffin has refined his craft and evolved as a fighter. On the other side, Espino, holding a record of 8-5 with 6 knockouts, is fresh off a victory against Israel Lopez and has amassed experience primarily in the United Kingdom.
