After Piera Rodriguez was disqualified from UFC Vegas 92 due to two illegal headbutts, she was surprised that her opponent, Ariane Carnelossi, couldn’t continue the fight.
While the focus of the boxing world was on a major event in Saudi Arabia, Rodriguez and Carnelossi clashed in a strawweight bout at UFC Vegas 92. Despite Rodriguez’s dominance in the fight, two illegal headbutts caused Carnelossi to be unable to continue, leading to Rodriguez’s disqualification.
Rodriguez believed that Carnelossi could have kept fighting but opted not to, which led Rodriguez to publicly criticize her opponent on social media.
In response, Carnelossi shared on Instagram that she sustained a fractured nose, zygomatic bone injury, and a blood clot in the sinus region as a result of the bout.
Carnelossi stressed the significance of abiding by the rules and upholding sportsmanship in combat sports.
