Anderson Silva is set to make a comeback to the boxing ring to take on his long-standing rival, Chael Sonnen, on June 15 in São Paulo, Brazil. The two fighters have announced the bout on their social media platforms. The match will consist of five rounds lasting two minutes each, with the fighters weighing in at 216 pounds. This event will be Silva’s final fight on home turf in Brazil.

Silva, a former UFC middleweight champion and a member of the UFC Hall of Fame, retired from MMA in 2020 after fulfilling his contract with the UFC. Since then, he has shifted his focus to boxing and has participated in three matches. In 2021, he secured victories against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Tito Ortiz. However, in 2022, he faced Jake Paul and suffered a defeat through a unanimous decision.

Sonnen, who is coming out of retirement to make his boxing debut against Silva, shares a history with his opponent from their UFC encounters. The two fighters met twice in memorable clashes, with Silva emerging as the winner in both instances. Their initial showdown in UFC 117 back in 2010 will also be honored in the UFC Hall of Fame fight wing.
