Conor McGregor recently supported Jon Jones in response to criticism for not squaring off against interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. McGregor suggested that Aspinall still needs to develop further before earning a shot at Jones, the reigning heavyweight champion.

Jon Jones has been absent from competition since clinching the heavyweight title in March of last year. He is anticipated to make his comeback at UFC 309 later this year to defend his title against Stipe Miocic. McGregor commended the fight lineup for the upcoming events, including Aspinall’s clash against Curtis Blaydes in July at UFC 304.

McGregor opposed the idea that Jones is dodging Aspinall and stressed the significance of the bout with Miocic. He indicated that Aspinall has some ground to cover before being on par with Jones. McGregor’s views were articulated during a live broadcast, where he showed his enthusiasm for the forthcoming matchups in the heavyweight category.
