The long-awaited showdown between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler is now underway.
UFC CEO Dana White revealed that McGregor and Chandler will host their initial press conference on June 3 at Dublin’s 3Arena as a prelude to UFC 303. White mentioned that entry to the press conference will be complimentary.
McGregor shared his enthusiasm on Instagram, saying, “MY FIGHT! MY HOME TOWN!” Chandler also added, “This is going to be fun! See y’all there!”
UFC 303 is scheduled for June 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, featuring McGregor vs. Chandler as the headline act in a five-round, non-title welterweight bout. The two athletes previously served as coaches against each other on The Ultimate Fighter 31 in early 2023.
At 35 years old, McGregor has been absent from the octagon following a leg fracture in a defeat against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. Despite recent setbacks, McGregor remains a prominent figure in MMA, having triumphed over renowned adversaries like Jose Aldo, Nate Diaz, and Max Holloway.
Chandler, aged 38, is a former three-time Bellator lightweight champion who has had a mixed record since joining the UFC. While he has secured victories against Dan Hooker and Tony Ferguson, Chandler has also experienced challenging losses to elite rivals such as Justin Gaethje and Poirier.
Both contenders are eager to make a significant impact in their upcoming bout, with McGregor striving to recapture his past success and Chandler endeavoring to solidify his position as a top contender in the UFC.
