Shelton Benjamin shared his thoughts on the disbanding of Team Angle, expressing that it happened prematurely in an interview. In 2003, Benjamin, along with Charlie Haas and Kurt Angle, was part of the successful faction known for their achievements on Smackdown. They formed “Team Angle” and were recognized as “The World’s Greatest Tag Team,” clinching the WWE Tag Team Championship twice and supporting Angle in capturing the WWE Championship.

Benjamin believes that the group should have remained together longer to continue learning from Angle. He described his time with Team Angle as a standout moment in his life, reminiscing about the unforgettable matches they had against esteemed wrestlers like Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, and Tajiri. Benjamin expressed disappointment over the breakup in June 2003, feeling that they had untapped potential and could have benefitted from further mentorship under Angle.

Looking back on their impact, Benjamin said, “We didn’t get the recognition we deserved and were separated too soon in my opinion.” He stressed that he and Haas were still honing their skills and valued the opportunity to work with such talented peers. Benjamin remembers his time with Team Angle as the most enjoyable phase of his career, marked by excitement and growth from facing new challenges.
