**Tony Khan Talks About the Potential of AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door Collaboration Pay-Per-View in Japan**

During the AEW Double or Nothing post-show press conference, AEW President Tony Khan and NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi discussed the idea of hosting an AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view event in Japan. This event would bring together wrestlers from both promotions. Khan mentioned that organizing a joint pay-per-view event with NJPW in Japan is a strong possibility. However, he also pointed out that the concept of the Forbidden Door may primarily remain in North America.

Khan expressed his thoughts, stating that the collaboration idea is promising and could lead to exciting opportunities. While he indicated that the traditional Forbidden Door concept has been successful and exciting in North America, he also hinted at the potential for expanding it internationally, perhaps even in Japan. He mentioned the excitement of having a large AEW crew in Japan and emphasized his interest in such international collaborations.

Moreover, it was revealed that New TBS Champion Mercedes Mone will be part of the Forbidden Door 2024 event, with her opponent yet to be determined. Khan also introduced a Forbidden Door Casino Gauntlet match scheduled to decide the challenger for the AEW World Championship on the May 29 episode of “AEW Dynamite.” Additionally, AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland expressed his desire to face a NJPW star at a future Forbidden Door event. However, it remains uncertain if his desired opponent will participate in the upcoming Gauntlet match.
