Jack Catterall is still hopeful for a chance to fight for the WBO light welterweight title against Teofimo Lopez. He recently used social media to suggest a bout in Saudi Arabia, proposing neutral ground and involving His Excellency Turki Alalshikh in arranging the match.

However, Catterall’s fighting style, akin to Shakur Stevenson’s, may not be as appealing to fans as other fighters in the same weight class. His lower popularity could hinder his chances of landing a fight against Teofimo or other top contenders. Eddie Hearn, Catterall’s promoter, might need to steer him towards more viable options, like a third fight with Josh Taylor or waiting for opportunities with other fighters in the division.

Teofimo’s promoter, Bob Arum, is also unlikely to entertain a bout with Catterall, particularly due to recent judging disputes in Catterall’s fights. To secure a title shot against Teofimo, Catterall might have to climb the ranks by taking on and defeating other formidable opponents in the division.

Possible rivals for Catterall to consider include Gary Antuanne Russell, Jamaine Ortiz, Shohjahon Ergashev, Arnold Barboza Jr., Elvis Rodriguez, Jose Ramirez, and Richardson Hitchins. By triumphing over some of these challengers, Catterall could potentially position himself as a mandatory contender for a title shot. Otherwise, his prospects of facing Teofimo Lopez appear slim.
