AEW Double or Nothing 2024 was a night filled with unforgettable moments that left both fans and wrestlers amazed. Will Ospreay and Mercedes Mone both captured their first AEW titles, Swerve Strickland defended the AEW World Championship against Christian Cage, and MJF shocked everyone with his return to AEW to settle a score with Adam Cole and announce his decision to stay with the company.
During his “What Happened When?” podcast, commentator Tony Schiavone shared some of the standout moments from the event, focusing on two incredible moments in the world of wrestling.
One of these moments was when Adam Copeland climbed to the top of the cage and executed an elbow drop, which Schiavone described as one of the most unbelievable sights he had ever seen. Copeland later disclosed that he suffered a fractured tibia from the move, forcing him to relinquish the AEW TNT Championship.
Another remarkable moment for Schiavone was the Anarchy in the Arena match, which he hailed as the wildest match he had ever witnessed. Reflecting on the match, Schiavone wondered how future versions could surpass the intensity of that particular event.
Schiavone, who jokingly referred to the competitors as “idiots,” clarified that he uses this term backstage to stress the importance of taking precautions to prevent serious injuries during such matches.
