Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has been given an extra week to finalize terms with his mandatory challenger for a title defense. The purse bid for Alvarez versus William Scull has been rescheduled to June 13, according to IBF president Daryl Peoples. The negotiation period was halted after only nine days, prompting a purse bid request from Scull’s promoter. Alvarez, the Ring champion at 168, must adhere to the mandated fight as per IBF regulations. Failing to do so could result in the loss of his title recognition. The IBF’s recent actions have clarified the order of mandatory challengers, dispelling any rumors of alternative contenders. With numerous successful title defenses under his belt, Alvarez will now prepare to square off against Scull in the upcoming championship showdown.
