Oleksandr Usyk achieved a landmark victory by uniting the heavyweight boxing titles globally when he overcame Tyson Fury in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia last month. Fury promptly triggered his rematch clause, paving the way for a second encounter with Usyk in late December at the same venue.

A victory for Fury in the rematch could lead to a stalemate between the two fighters and the potential for a third bout. Nonetheless, event organizers are already contemplating alternative scenarios, including a potential showdown with former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

Promoter Eddie Hearn hinted at the possibility of Joshua squaring off against the winner of the Fury-Usyk rematch down the line. At 34 years old, Joshua has been on a winning streak, securing victories in his last four matches, including a notable triumph over former UFC heavyweight titleholder Francis Ngannou earlier this year. Notably, Usyk has emerged victorious over Joshua in two consecutive clashes, first in 2021 and subsequently in 2022.

Joshua is poised to make a comeback to the ring on September 21 at Wembley Stadium, although his opponent is yet to be disclosed.
