Paddy Pimblett has expressed his belief that Ilia Topuria is reluctant to square off against Max Holloway in the octagon. Despite Topuria clinching the featherweight championship in February, he has yet to put his title on the line, with Holloway being lined up as his first challenger. Pimblett, speaking on his YouTube channel recently, implied that Topuria is sidestepping a showdown with Holloway, who he views as a strong adversary.
The prospect of Max Holloway being the primary contender for Topuria’s featherweight title has been in the cards ever since his impressive win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300. Pimblett and Topuria have a history of tension, which includes a clash at a hotel in London earlier this year where Pimblett tossed hand sanitizer at Topuria.
While negotiations between Topuria and Holloway continue for their potential bout, Pimblett is preparing for his upcoming face-off against Bobby Green at UFC 304 in Manchester. Pimblett’s unblemished record in the UFC will be put to the test against Green, who has been on a roll in his recent performances.
