Sean Strickland is not pleased with the rising presence of foreign fighters in the UFC. The former Middleweight titleholder, currently leading an eclectic division, has predominantly faced non-American opponents in his last 14 bouts since November 2017.

The prevalence of international fighters in the 185-pound weight class is a trend that has been ongoing, exemplified by athletes like Brazil’s Anderson Silva and his exceptional winning streak and title defenses. Referred to as “Tarzan,” Strickland advocates for American fighters to revitalize their status in the UFC.

During a recent discussion with MMA Mania, Strickland voiced his worries regarding the limited American fighters in the UFC and highlighted the necessity for a resurgence of American contenders in the organization. Despite a recent defeat to South Africa’s Dricus du Plessis, Strickland remains resolute in seeking a rematch for the championship, even if it means being patient.

In the meantime, du Plessis is preparing to defend his title against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305 scheduled for next month.
