The Middleweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is currently looking to figure out its top contenders.

Having missed out on the title just before his recent match, Sean Strickland is convinced that he deserves a shot to face the winner of the upcoming Dricus du Plessis versus Israel Adesanya title fight at UFC 305 next month. Although he previously suffered a defeat against du Plessis, Strickland made a strong comeback by defeating Paulo Costa at UFC 302.

Khamzat Chimaev, an undefeated sensation with a flawless 13-0 record, was gearing up for a return last month but had to pull out due to illness just before facing Robert Whittaker. Chimaev has his sights set on vying for the championship title by the conclusion of 2024. He has brought up his past sparring encounter with Strickland and shown interest in settling their unresolved business inside the Octagon.

Chimaev has secured only one victory in the Middleweight division since moving up in 2023. Initially set to take on Paulo Costa at UFC 294, the Brazilian had to withdraw due to an elbow infection. Kamaru Usman stepped in as a replacement but ended up losing via a majority decision.
