Many boxers have a long history of boxing in their families, but not everyone can claim to be the son of a former heavyweight world champion. Bruce Seldon Jr, who will be entering the ring for his second professional fight in Atlantic City on Friday night, hails from a prestigious boxing lineage. His father, Bruce Seldon Sr, held the WBA heavyweight title in the mid-1990s. While Seldon Sr may not be a household name, achieving world champion status in the heavyweight division during a renowned era is a significant accomplishment.

One of Seldon Sr’s career highlights was his bout against the legendary Mike Tyson, in which he was defeated in the first round on the same night as the tragic passing of Tupac Shakur. Despite this loss, Seldon Sr commands respect, particularly in his hometown of Atlantic City, New Jersey. Known as “The Atlantic City Express” during his fighting days, Seldon Sr has created a lasting legacy that his son, Seldon Jr, is now continuing.

Seldon Jr will be showcased on the forthcoming Boxing Insider Promotions event at the Tropicana in Atlantic City for his second fight. Following a successful debut in June, Seldon Jr will be facing Isaiah Margheim in a four-round match. While all attention will be on Seldon Jr, Margheim acknowledges that defeating the son of a former world champion will also bring him substantial recognition.

Not only is Seldon Jr emulating his father in the boxing arena, but he is also a native of Atlantic City. His upcoming fight at the Tropicana is anticipated to garner local support as he strives to create his own mark in the boxing realm.
