There is a debate on whether Terence Crawford holds the title of the best boxer today. Nevertheless, it’s clear that this Nebraska native is among the finest talents of his time. His impressive victory over Errol Spence last year was truly historic. The fight between Crawford and Spence was expected to be close, but Crawford surprised everyone with a dominant performance, securing a win in just nine rounds.
Following his triumph over Spence, Crawford has been out of action. However, this Saturday night, he will step into the ring at junior middleweight in Los Angeles to face the unbeaten Israil Madrimov, the WBA titleholder in that division. Although Crawford is anticipated to be the favorite, Madrimov’s recent defeat of Magomed Kurbanov shouldn’t be overlooked.
Even though the Crawford-Madrimov bout will be a pay-per-view event, it’s not seen as a major fight for Crawford. There’s buzz about a potential matchup between Crawford and the pound-for-pound star Canelo Alvarez down the line. While Crawford, at 36, is aging, his skill set and experience continue to make him a formidable adversary for any opponent.
