The rankings are calculated based on a fighter’s performance in terms of victories, defeats, the caliber of opponents faced, their rate of finishing fights, and how frequently they compete. Fighters may be taken off the rankings if they remain inactive for 24 months due to various reasons. Despite serving suspensions for drug use or misconduct, fighters can still be ranked unless they exceed the 24-month inactivity limit. Usually, fighters are categorized in their main weight division, but participating in catchweight bouts or contests outside their usual weight class may impact their ranking. Non-champions are eligible for ranking in only one weight category at a time and cannot be ranked in a different class until they have competed in that weight category.
