Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou will be making his debut in the Professional Fighters League (PFL) against Renan Ferreira, a Brazilian fighter, on October 19, 2024. This fight will headline the upcoming pay-per-view (PPV) card, although the city and venue are yet to be announced.
Ngannou has shown his admiration for Ferreira, acknowledging him as a great fighter whom he has been following for a while. He praised Ferreira’s unique athleticism, speed, and impressive skills over his physical size.
Ngannou, with a record of 17 wins and 3 losses, has been absent from the fighting scene since January 2022 due to his involvement in boxing ventures. On the contrary, Ferreira, who holds a record of 13 wins and 3 losses, is coming off a significant victory over Ryan Bader with a first-round knockout at a previous PFL event in February.
The PPV event on October 19 will not only showcase Ngannou’s bout but also a championship super fight between Bellator champion Cris Justino and PFL titleholder Larissa Pacheco. Justino’s appearance comes after Bellator was acquired by the PFL in late 2023. Pacheco, currently on a 10-fight winning streak with seven knockouts, is set to test her skills against the seasoned champion.
PFL CEO Peter Murray has confirmed that the event will be aired live on ESPN+ in the U.S. and on DAZN globally, offering fans the opportunity to witness the best fighters battling it out for the PFL Super Fights Championship Belts.
Further information regarding the undercard for the event, named “Battle of the Giants: Brace for Impact,” will be disclosed by the PFL in the upcoming days.
