Canelo Alvarez, a boxing superstar, thinks about what could have been if he had chosen to sign with Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) instead of Golden Boy Promotions. By aligning with PBC, he might have had the opportunity to fight against well-known fighters like Jermall Charlo and David Benavidez, who are top contenders in his weight category. However, the quality of opponents he faced with Golden Boy might have been different if he had gone with PBC, considering that PBC was established in 2015, while Canelo had already started his career with Golden Boy back in 2004.
During his tenure with Golden Boy Promotions from 2010 onwards, Canelo faced off against renowned opponents such as Gennadiy Golovkin, Shane Mosley, and Floyd Mayweather, among others. Had he been under PBC, his pool of potential opponents might have been restricted to those managed by the organization, like David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade.
Canelo has expressed his opinion that his career might have been more successful had he opted for PBC, acknowledging the success he achieved with Golden Boy at the same time. While a move to PBC could have altered the trajectory of his career, it remains uncertain if it would have led to greater success.
