Will Devin Haney work around the IBF’s Rehydration Rule for Liam Paro Fight?

Promoter Eddie Hearn discussed the possibility of Devin Haney facing IBF light welterweight champion Liam Paro on December 7th for a potential unification match.

Hearn suggested that Haney, as the WBC ‘Champion in Recess’ at 140, could see the fight with Paro as a unification bout, even without holding the full title.

If this matchup happens, Haney might be exempt from the IBF’s 10-pound rehydration rule, allowing him to rehydrate fully after the weigh-in and possibly weigh in above the IBF’s set limits.

This exemption could pave the way for Haney to challenge Paro for his IBF belt.

Boxer Chris Algieri shared his thoughts on a potential fight with Paro, acknowledging Paro’s skills and noting that it wouldn’t be an easy return match for Haney. Algieri sees this as an opportunity for Haney to vie for another world title and make a strong statement in the division.
