Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal had to withdraw from his planned comeback at the upcoming BKFC 66 event on Sept. 13 in Hollywood, Fla., after sustaining an injury during training. Lawal, an experienced fighter from Bellator and Strikeforce, was supposed to fight BKFC champion Dave Mundell.

Lawal’s unexpected return to the ring follows his retirement five years ago because of multiple injuries. During this time, he had been coaching at American Top Team in Florida. Despite feeling better and returning to training, Lawal has mentioned that he intends to compete in just a few fights.

With Lawal out of the bout, Mundell is currently without an opponent for the Sept. 13 event and may have to wait for another BKFC competition later in the year.

Meanwhile, BKFC 66 will go on as scheduled with Alberto Blas defending his bantamweight title against Ryan Reber, while Howard Davis will now face James Brown in the new co-main event.
