Reports suggest that Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis’ team has extended a lucrative offer to undefeated junior middleweight contender Charles Conwell for a potential match later this year.

Despite Charles Conwell not being the anticipated opponent for Boots Ennis’ debut in the 154-pound division due to his formidable skills, it is believed that this fight may not attract a large fan following. Ennis’ promoter, Eddie Hearn, had explored bouts with other prominent fighters like Serhii Bohachuk, Vergil Ortiz Jr., and Israil Madrimov.

Thaboxingvoice revealed that an offer has been made to Conwell, who currently holds the #4 ranking in the WBC with an impeccable record of 20 wins and 15 knockouts. On the other hand, Ennis, aged 27, has encountered challenges in securing suitable opponents following his recent triumph over David Avanesyan, with unsuccessful attempts to finalize matches with Brian Norman Jr. and Karen Chukhadzhian.

Conwell has claimed victories in fights against Khiary Gray, Nathaniel Gallimore, Juan Carlos Abreu, and Abraham Juarez Ramirez. The potential clash between Ennis and Conwell carries risks for Boots given Conwell’s knockout power and Ennis’ historical defensive weaknesses.

Hearn’s choice to not meet Norman Jr.’s demanded purse of $2.2 million could be seen as a tactical move to shield Ennis from a potentially tough fight. Ennis’ performances in recent bouts against Avanesyan and Roiman Villa have raised uncertainties among some fans regarding his skills, hinting that transitioning to the 154-pound category could bring further obstacles for the up-and-coming talent.
