UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira is exploring the idea of joining forces with heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Pereira is gearing up to defend his title against Khalil Rountree at UFC 307 on October 5, following which he intends to support Jones in his upcoming clash with Stipe Miocic on November 16. Pereira has shared that he and Jones have been in talks about the potential collaboration, possibly before Jones’ match at UFC 309 in New York.

At UFC 306 in Las Vegas, Pereira and Jones were seen together taking photos. Pereira noted that Jones appeared more agile and trim compared to their last encounter at UFC 285. Pereira stressed that their joint training could deter any future showdown between the two champions, highlighting his focus on gaining insight from Jones rather than seeking a showdown with him.

When questioned about the prospect of a champion versus champion showdown with middleweight titleholder Dricus du Plessis or heavyweight champion Jon Jones, Pereira indicated his eagerness to reclaim his 185-pound championship, pointing out du Plessis as the preferable opponent due to the weight cut requirement. Pereira pointed out that du Plessis has been ambiguous about the potential matchup, suggesting a degree of reluctance or apprehension on his part to step into the octagon with him.
