Ian Machado Garry sees his upcoming fight at UFC 310 this Saturday as the start of two championship quests.
After a tough bout against former Bellator fighter Michael Page in June, Garry has been gearing up for his comeback to the octagon. Demonstrating his grappling skills, he secured a unanimous decision victory in that challenging fight.
Now, months later, the 27-year-old is ready for action. Initially, Shavkat Rakhmonov was set to face Belal Muhammad at UFC 310, but due to an injury sidelining Muhammad, Garry stepped in as a replacement for this short-notice clash.
This welterweight showdown will be an unusual five-round co-main event, though not for a championship. The winner will secure a guaranteed title shot against the current champion, Belal Muhammad. Yet, Garry already has his eyes set on not just the welterweight division.
🏆 Ian Garry shares his dream of becoming a dual champion:
“I defeat Shavkat, claim the title, and then move up to middleweight to take on Khamzat and win that belt too. I’m not intimidated by anyone.”

Ian Machado Garry eyes dual champion status ahead of UFC 310 comeback
In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Garry discussed his rapid return and his goal to eventually compete in the middleweight class. He sees his bout against Rakhmonov as just the beginning of his journey to claim championships in two weight divisions.
“I’m a young guy with big dreams. I envision my face on billboards and taking on the toughest opponents,” Garry shared in anticipation of his UFC 310 fight against Rakhmonov. “My dream is to defeat Shavkat, then win the welterweight title.”
He added, “After that, I’ll move up to middleweight to challenge Khamzat [Chimaev] and take that title too. I am not scared of anyone—I believe in my skills and abilities.”
What are your thoughts on Garry’s aspirations? Do you think he can conquer Shavkat Rakhmonov this weekend?
