Jorge Masvidal is eager to return to the UFC.
In a recent interview, the former UFC “BMF” champion expressed his wish to get back into the octagon in 2024 or 2025. As the year wraps up without any confirmed fights, he is aiming for a comeback in April in his hometown of Miami.
“I plan to make my UFC comeback this April,” Masvidal disclosed during a guest appearance on the Fight Back podcast. “We haven’t finalized an opponent yet, but I’m hoping to have one by December. The bout will be part of the Miami event.”
The UFC has not announced the specific dates and locations for its April events, as the current calendar only reaches into March 2025.
Should Masvidal return, it will mark his first fight since UFC 287 in April 2023. Despite his loss by unanimous decision to top welterweight contender Gilbert Burns, the fight allowed him to conclude his career in front of a supportive Miami crowd.
Although UFC CEO Dana White previously suggested Masvidal might not fight for the organization again, Masvidal’s retirement seems to be put on hold.
During his time away from MMA, Masvidal has kept busy. He took on former UFC competitor Nate Diaz in a boxing match in July in Anaheim, California, with Diaz winning by majority decision, avenging his loss to Masvidal at UFC 244.
At 40 years old, Masvidal boasts a wealth of experience, including 52 professional MMA fights. In addition to his victories over Diaz, Ben Askren, and Darren Till, he has contended for the UFC welterweight championship and faced challenges like defeats against former champion Kamaru Usman, currently enduring a four-fight losing streak.
