Logan Paul recently honored Conor McGregor by referencing one of his iconic quotes during a WWE promotional event. This appearance marked Paul’s first public outing since discussions emerged about a potential fight with the UFC superstar.
Paul, who last stepped into the boxing ring for a disqualification win against Dillon Danis last year, is now linked with a possible match against McGregor. This speculation escalated when McGregor announced on X that he is in preliminary talks for a boxing exhibition match with Paul set to take place in India.
While no official details have emerged, excitement continues to grow regarding a potential boxing face-off between Paul and McGregor. Adding to the complexity of the situation, McGregor remains under contract with the UFC, complicating the logistics of any exhibition bout.
Despite the uncertainty, Paul hinted at ongoing discussions with McGregor’s team in a post on social media. He is also slated to make his return to WWE on January 6th for Monday Night Raw.
During a media event promoting his upcoming WWE appearance, Paul quoted McGregor while addressing the fans.
Paul declared, “If you have something I want, I’m gonna take it… ‘Logan Paul’s a bully’. Yeah! I am the bully! And the WWE is my playground!” He went on to assert, “So look, I’m not here to take part, I’m here to take over. Your approval means nothing to me. Whether you love me or hate me, I don’t care, because you’re still watching.”
As of now, McGregor has not publicly reacted to Paul’s use of his signature line. In addition to the boxing match talks, McGregor is focused on returning to MMA following the cancellation of his previously scheduled fight at UFC 303 due to a toe injury.
The speculation surrounding the potential matchup between Paul and McGregor intensified quickly following their social media exchanges, spurring premature analysis on how the fight might unfold. One simulation even projected a first-round knockout ending the bout with just one punch.
If McGregor does return to boxing, it will be his first such appearance since his 2017 loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the highly publicized “money fight.” Following that match, McGregor has had a mixed record in the UFC, going 1-3, including defeats to notable fighters like Dustin Poirier and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Interestingly, McGregor was a target of callouts from Logan’s brother, Jake, early in Jake’s boxing career. Though McGregor appeared to entertain the idea of fighting Jake, those discussions never progressed formally, leaving the door open for a potential fight with Logan instead.
