Paddy Pimblett could potentially be on a collision course with a UFC fan favorite for his next Octagon assignment.
UFC lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett teased fans with a major hint regarding his next fight as speculation runs rampant regarding his return.
Pimblett has quickly become one of the UFC’s biggest stars despite being just a handful of fights into his promotional tenure. After recent wins over King Green and Tony Ferguson, Pimblett has proven himself as a legitimate lightweight title contender entering 2025.
While Pimblett is a likely fit for the March 22nd UFC card in London, nothing has been formally announced as of this writing. But that hasn’t stopped Pimblett from being the target of recent callouts throughout the lightweight division.
Pimblett has a potential lightweight newcomer on his radar as 2025 draws near. But surprisingly, another name has surged into the mix, and Pimblett revealed he’s agreed to fight one of the division’s most exciting brawlers.
In a recent upload to his YouTube channel, Pimblett dropped an easter egg regarding his allegedly agreed-upon next opponent.
“People have been speculating about who I’m fighting, this and that. I’m coming for that belt so I’m looking for higher-ranked fighters. I’m sure you’ll see a fight announcement soon enough,” Pimblett shared.
“I’ve said yeah, the opponent said yeah, just need to get stuff signed. So you’s know the score everyone…and I’ll see you at the top!”
Pimblett is indirectly referring to Michael Chandler, who coincidentally expressed a profound interest in facing the UK star earlier this month. Chandler most recently lost to Charles Oliveira in a ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate at UFC 309.
If the Pimblett vs. Chandler fight is formally booked, it’ll signal Chandler’s recent pivot away from his long-awaited bout with Conor McGregor. After he and McGregor were supposed to headline UFC 303, McGregor withdrew due to injury, and a timeframe for the Irish superstar’s return remains a mystery.
Pimblett vs. Chandler would be a matchup of two of the biggest fan favorites in the UFC lightweight division. Both lightweights are looking to work their way up into the title picture, especially Chandler following losses in four of his last five fights.
Pimblett most recently defeated Green at UFC 304 and remains unbeaten in his UFC tenure. The former Cage Warriors champion has won eight consecutive fights since 2018, including wins over Jared Gordon and Jordan Leavitt.
The former Bellator champion Chandler has quickly become must-see TV during his six-fight UFC tenure. Fights with the likes of Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, and Oliveira are cemented as instant classics in UFC history.
As of this writing, Chandler nor the UFC have reacted to Pimblett’s massive tease. A fight announcement for both stars could loom as the year draws to a close.
