Shakur Stevenson calls for Tyson Fury to face Daniel Dubois, known as the ‘Walking Guillotine’

Shakur Stevenson wants to see Tyson Fury fight IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois next after losing his rematch against unified champ Oleksandr Usyk last Saturday night in Riyadh.

Fury should take the fight with Dubois, but he won’t get anywhere near this apex predator. With the way Dubois goes to the body, Fury would be highly vulnerable in his delicate condition.

I don’t think Shakur understands what Fury is about. He takes calculated risks, and he’s not about to put his head on the block by facing the walking guillotine Dubois. If Fury were true, Audie Murphy type, you wouldn’t have to ask him twice to face Dubois. He’s not about that, though. Fighting Dubois would be bad for Fury’s health.

Too Powerful, Too Young?

That would show a lot of courage on the Gypsy King’s part to agree to a fight with Dubois because after what he just went through, he’d not want to suffer a third straight loss. It would be a fight that would be easy to make, considering Fury and Dubois share the same promoter, Frank Warren.

Before Fury’s two defeats against Usyk, he’d considered himself the best fighter in the division. His fans saw him as the best, and they didn’t care that his resume lacked quality wins.

Many fans would also like to see Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) fight Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) next. This would allow him to snap his two-fight losing streak and help build interest in a match against Anthony Joshua.

The way things are now, Fury would be going into the AJ fight with a 0-2 record in his last two fights, making their clash a money grab. It’s next to impossible that Fury and his promoters would agree to make a fight with the 27-year-old Dubois.

He’s too powerful, dangerous, and too young for Fury. The Gypsy King was getting hurt by Usyk, who isn’t a puncher. The three fights that Fury had against Deontay Wilder did something to him.

Fury’s Calculated Risks

Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, and Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, are interested in setting up a fight between those two next. Hearn said he’d like for the first fight to be at Wembley Stadium in London and the second one in Riyadh.

Hearn is in a mad hurry to make the Joshua-Fury fight because he knows these two guys are too past it for them to be trusted fighting the top 15 contenders unless they were well-vetted ahead of time and deemed 100% safe.
