PFL heavyweight Francis Ngannou is eager for a rematch against Tyson Fury in the boxing ring.
‘The Gypsy King’ recently made his return to boxing on Saturday in Saudi Arabia, where he faced WBA (Super), WBC, WBO, IBO, and The Ring heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. This bout occurred just a few months after ‘The Cat’ secured a split-decision victory over Fury in May.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou was present at the Kingdom Arena, keeping a close watch on the fight due to his rivalry with Fury. Ngannou made his boxing debut last October, where he dropped Fury but ultimately lost the match in a controversial split decision. He subsequently faced Anthony Joshua in March, where he was knocked out in his second boxing match.
As Ngannou observed, Tyson Fury experienced his second consecutive decision loss, this time against Oleksandr Usyk. In a recent interview with Pro Boxing Fans, the PFL Superfights heavyweight champion shared his perspective on the match. Ngannou expressed uncertainty about whether Fury deserved to win, but he felt that the fight was closer than the 116-112 scorecards suggested.
Later on, Francis Ngannou was asked about what should come next for Tyson Fury. While many fans are hoping to see Fury face Anthony Joshua in a long-anticipated matchup, Ngannou expressed his desire for a rematch with Fury instead. He indicated that despite recent discussions about a potential bout with Deontay Wilder, his focus is on seeking revenge against Fury.
“I think the fight was pretty close; I would’ve scored it differently,” Ngannou commented after Fury’s loss to Usyk. “Maybe Usyk still wins. At the end of the fight, I wasn’t sure if anybody was the winner because it could’ve gone either way. My scorecard definitely had it closer.”
He further elaborated, “With Usyk beating Fury twice and Joshua twice, it’s tough to argue against him being the best heavyweight currently. However, what truly matters to me now is a rematch between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou.”
