Jorge Masvidal is confident that he will have another encounter with Colby Covington in the near future.

On Monday, Masvidal entered a guilty plea to a misdemeanor battery charge resulting from a confrontation with Covington outside a Miami steakhouse in March 2022. As part of the plea deal, “Gamebred” has been sentenced to prison time and must also pay court costs. However, he does not anticipate serving any additional jail time.

This legal decision marks the end of a saga that began over a year ago at UFC 272, when Covington defeated Masvidal by unanimous decision in their highly anticipated grudge match. Following a hiatus from fighting, Masvidal reportedly staged a surprise attack on Covington outside a restaurant in Miami, resulting in the breaking of Covington’s tooth.

Jorge Masvidal finally had the opportunity to discuss the alleged incident in an interview with Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour. His court appearance was only a few hours away at the time of the interview.

“This son of a bitch, Colby, was attempting to charge me with three felonies and one misdemeanor after publicly stating that if he ever saw me on the street, he would literally kill me,” Masvidal revealed. “He said some crazy things. I couldn’t talk about it until now, but I can.” Masvidal also questioned the whereabouts of other individuals involved in the incident. If others were there, they should have also been tried. You can’t engage in a mass attack on someone. It was a hate crime against his weak ass, probably.”

“So where are the other people? Once again, he is a terrible liar. It was just me and him. I confronted him immediately after he dropped the crap, and he didn’t know how to handle it. Did he fight? No, he hid and called the police. He dialed 911 and said, ‘My life is in danger.’ This guy is trying to beat me up.” You coward, you coward. I’ve been dealing with this nonsense for eight months. So much money has been spent. Such a bunch of nonsense.”

Regarding his predictions for a potential future confrontation with Covington, Masvidal stated:

“I don’t know when, but Colby and I will cross paths someday, whether it’s inside the cage or elsewhere,” Masvidal continued. “Considering all the lies he has spread about me, the charges he is facing…we will meet, and it’s going to be enjoyable, dude. It’s going to be interesting. Yes.

“I’m going to knock out the rest of his teeth.”
