John Lineker, known for his powerful strikes in MMA, will be testing his skills in Muay Thai for the first time at ONE Fight Night 18 early next year.

Set to take on experienced Muay Thai fighter Liam Harrison in the bantamweight division, Lineker’s foray into Muay Thai was confirmed by ONE Championship officials. The event is scheduled to take place at Lumpini Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand and will be broadcast live on Prime Video on January 12, 2024, at 8:00 PM ET.

The 33-year-old Lineker’s last bout was at Night 14 of ONE Fight, where he secured a unanimous decision victory over Steven Roman. This win came after his three-round finish of Jae-Eun Kim at ONE Fight Night 13. After 47 professional MMA fights, Lineker is now venturing into Muay Thai, signaling his versatility across martial arts disciplines.

“Let’s see how the fight with Liam Harrison goes. If I do well, I plan on continuing to fight in Muay Thai and MMA,” Lineker mentioned in comments provided to MMA Junkie by ONE Championship. He added, “I will be going to Thailand 20 days in advance to train at Lions MMA in Phuket and adapt to the climate and time zone. I did this last time and it worked, so I will do it again to make sure I am well adapted on fight day. Masu.”

Harrison, aged 38, has competed four times under the ONE Championship banner with a record of two wins and two losses in Muay Thai matches. He aims to bounce back from his last appearance at ONE Fight Night 1, where he was stopped by Nong-O Gaiyanghadao.

The current lineup for ONE Fight Night 18 includes:

  • John Lineker vs. Liam Harrison – Muay Thai match
  • Kwon Wonil vs. Sinechataga Zoltseteg
