Diego Pacheco’s fight against Marcelo Coceres on Saturday ended with a knockout victory, despite a slow start for Pacheco. The fight took place at the YouTube Theater near Pacheco’s hometown of South Central Los Angeles. Pacheco is ranked 9th in the super middleweight division and now has a record of 20 wins, 0 losses, and 17 KOs.
The early rounds were slow, with Pacheco using his jab to control the fight. In the third round, Coceres tried to get inside Pacheco’s guard and focused on body shots, while Pacheco aimed for headshots with a straight right. Coceres landed significant punches in the fifth round, giving him confidence for the rest of the fight.
Coceres continued to press forward, but Pacheco responded with effective combinations. In the ninth round, a series of punches forced Coceres onto the ropes, and a right uppercut sent him to the canvas. The referee counted him out at 2:53.
After the fight, Pacheco acknowledged the tough competition and expressed his readiness for future challenges. In his previous fights, Pacheco secured victories against Martin Gallegos and Jack Cullen. Coceres, on the other hand, has faced several defeats in recent years, including bouts against Edgar Berlanga, Erik Bazinyan, and Mayrim Nursultanov.
