Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker is eager to get back in the cage. The 32-year-old Australian suffered a second-round knockout in July at the hands of Drikus du Plessis, leaving him looking to regain UFC gold.
What’s next for “The Reaper”? At this point, a rematch with Israel Adesanya doesn’t seem likely, and Whittaker has already defeated many of the other top middleweight contenders. If Sean Strickland remains champion after his fight with “Stillnox,” a win against Whittaker could put him in title contention.
Despite the UFC’s efforts, Whittaker has not yet faced Paulo Costa. Previous attempts to book a fight between the two were canceled due to contractual disputes, with Whittaker previously expressing reluctance to fight Costa again.
However, Whittaker recently tagged Costa with the hashtag “UFC 299” in an Instagram post, suggesting a potential rematch. “Let’s try it again…” Whittaker wrote as the caption.
Costa responded positively on both Instagram and Twitter, expressing interest in a February fight rather than the scheduled March 9 date at UFC 299.
Tamara showed me this. Why are you tagging me, Robert, do you really want this fight? It’s very cute, if it’s positive that the deal was completed ✅
February is enough time for me, what do you think? pic.twitter.com/k3sVgNmcJD— Paulo Costa (Borrachinha) (@BorrachinhaMMA) November 30, 2023

In the past, Costa has never acknowledged a fight with Whittaker being announced. However, with a new contract in place, unless he encounters another serious setback, a Whittaker vs. Costa bout could be one of the most anticipated middleweight fights of 2024.

Social media ad revenue can be quite lucrative. Congratulations to Sean Strickland!
I posted it on Roobet and it made me laugh because my 60 second post made more money than my first UFC fight, lol…

The Joaquin Silva vs. Jared Gordon fight was truly captivating from beginning to end.
At the end of Absolute War, Joaquin Silva scored an absurd KO win over Jared Gordon.
After injuring Gordon on the Sloev stretch at the end of R2, these two spent most of the third round trading back and forth, with Neto BJJ taking over with body shots and big power. pic.twitter.com/6nWLf8toMn— Fenyo (@fenoxsky) November 30, 2023
