Brandon Moreno is keeping a close watch on the upcoming match between Alexandre Pantoja and Brandon Roybal at UFC 296.
Flyweight champion Pantoja (26-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC) will face Roybal (15-6 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in the co-main event on December 16th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with the fight set to be streamed on pay-per-view after the preliminaries on ESPN and ESPN+. In their previous encounter, Pantoja secured a victory over Roybal with a rear naked choke in the second round.
Speaking to MMA Junkie, Moreno shared his thoughts on the match, stating, “It’s an interesting fight. I’ve faced Pantoja three times in the past, and our last fight was incredibly close. What I admire about him is his ability to find a way to win. It was a tough battle for me, but he remained relentless and patient throughout. He’s a very patient fighter.”
Regarding Royval, Moreno highlighted his skill in maintaining distance and his incredibly high pace in fights, but questioned whether he could display strategic intelligence in the midst of a battle. He added, “The smart move would be to handle the pressure and execute my strategy. Let’s wait and see what unfolds.”
Moreno (21-7-2 MMA, 9-3-2 UFC) is currently competing in a title eliminator against top contender Amir Albazi, but he is confident that he will face the winner of the upcoming match.
