Welcome to Midnight Mania!

UFC 296 was set to take place next weekend (Saturday, December 16, 2023) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, the featherweight contest was thrown into disarray when Giga Chikadze, a highly skilled professional kickboxer, suffered a groin laceration during training while preparing to face the heavy-handed boxer Josh Emmett. This injury forced Chikadze to withdraw from the match.

Similar to Jon Jones earlier this year, Chikadze’s injury occurred during a routine left roundhouse kick, which is his signature move. Unfortunately, he fell to the ground in agony.

Something incredible will happen! My crotch is torn! I’ll be back soon!

This incident highlights how quickly a fighter can suffer a fight-ending injury. Chikadze had executed this kick countless times before, but due to a combination of fatigue, exhaustion, and misfortune, this particular kick caused a significant injury. As a result, Chikadze loses out on his earnings, and the fans miss the opportunity to witness an exciting fight.

Meanwhile, Emmett is left without an opponent. He immediately took to social media to search for a replacement fighter willing to step up with just 12 days’ notice.

Giga came out. Who’s ready for December 16th?

Stay tuned for updates on potential replacements for Emmett. In the meantime, we wish Chikadze a speedy recovery.
