# Yukenbayev vs. Mimune makes weight for crossroads fight tonight in Florida
Batyrzhan Jukenbayev bounced back from his only loss in style.
A win against a strong fighter could put him in a position to face the strongest 140-pound fighter.
Jukenbayev will face Mohamed Mimoune on Wednesday night at the White Sands (also known as Probox TV) Event Center in Plant City, Florida. The 10-round junior welterweight bout will headline a four-fight card that will be streamed live on Probox TV (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT).
At Tuesday’s weigh-in, Djukenbayev weighed 139.8 pounds. Mimone came in at 139.6 pounds.
Djukenbayev vs. Mimune is a crossroads bout between junior welterweights, with the winner clinching his spot as a legitimate challenger in the 140-pound division. Chris Glovers, senior producer at Probox TV, believes it will be a risk on both sides, but that could make this fight a compelling action fight.
“The winner of (Wednesday’s) fight will be challenging some of the top names at 140 pounds,” Glovers told The Ring on Monday night. “They’re both at that level.
“Jukenbayev fought (IBF world junior welterweight titleholder) Matias. He’s an avoidable fighter and weighs 140 pounds at that level. He fought (trainer Brian) ‘Bomac’ (McIntyre) is placed in the corner. Mimune is coming off a win over Stephen Galeano (who was undefeated against Mimune). He has all the confidence in the world and both will aim for a knockout against the other. It’s going to be a tough battle. The winner will be the top 10 fighter.”
The 32-year-old (21-1, 16 KOs), originally from Shu, Kazakhstan and currently residing in Montreal, Canada, defeated Hugo Alberto Roldan in a hard-fought split decision in his last fight on September 20th. Yukenbayev hasn’t fought since Dec. 24 last year, when he stopped Zolani Makoteli in six rounds.
Jukenbayev has won his last three fights since losing a technical knockout to Matias in May 2021 and is currently coached by Brian ‘Bomac’ McIntyre.
Mimune (23-5, 4 KOs) stopped Galeano in six rounds in their last fight on July 26. In his last fight on March 25 of last year, Mimune lost a unanimous decision to then-undefeated Cesar Francis.
Mimoune, a 36-year-old native of Toulouse, France who now lives in Plant City, has also lost to former world titleholder Victor Postol and one-time opponent Tyrone McKenna. He is currently coached by Roy Jones Jr.
In the joint bout, junior welterweight contender Kelvin Davis (10-0, 6 KOs) of Norfolk, Virginia, will face Clarence Booth in an eight-round bout. Davis won his last fight on October 14, defeating Narciso Carmona by unanimous decision.
Davis, 27, is the older brother of lightweight prospect Keyshawn Davis.
Booth (21-8, 13 KOs), who lives in nearby St. Petersburg, lost his last fight on April 1 to undefeated Luis Feliciano by unanimous decision.
In a clash of undefeated light heavyweights, Najee Lopez (8-0, 7 KOs) of Ellenwood, Georgia will take on Ildo DePestre (7-0, 5 KOs) of Miami, Florida in an eight-round bout.
The ProBox TV stream will open with a six-round junior lightweight bout between Dominic Valle (7-0, 5 KOs) of Lutz, Florida and Jenelle Lausa (11-1, 7 KOs) of the Philippines.
