Deontay Wilder, a former world titlist, faced fellow former world titlist Joseph Parker in a scheduled 12-round bout sponsored by Saudi Arabia. Wilder, with a record of 42-2-1, appeared significantly taller than Parker with a record of 33-3, at the start of the fight. The first round was a feeling-out process for both fighters. In the second round, Parker attempted to attack Wilder, while Wilder, known for his powerful punches, waited for his opportunity.

In the third round, the fighters continued to size each other up, leading to intermittent explosive action. The fourth round saw Parker displaying significant force. By the fifth round, it was apparent that Wilder was struggling to apply pressure. Throughout the middle of the fight, Wilder, also known as “The Bronze Bomber,” seemed to be losing ground. In the sixth round, Wilder unleashed a fierce attack, raising questions about whether he could turn the tide against Parker.

During the seventh round, both fighters exchanged blows, increasing the intensity of the fight. Parker landed a powerful right hand in the eighth round, causing significant damage to Wilder. Although Wilder managed to survive the round, Parker, the underdog, demonstrated his potential to not only win but potentially secure a knockout. Wilder mounted a strong offensive in the ninth round but struggled to maintain momentum. By the 10th round, it was evident that Wilder was facing difficulties for unknown reasons.

In the 11th round, Parker connected with an overhand right, displaying his agility and timing. Wilder attempted to counter, but Parker was prepared to withstand his efforts, ultimately overwhelming him. The 12th and final round saw Wilder return to form, but Parker stood his ground, and Wilder’s strength was not enough to turn the tables. As a result, the judges awarded the victory to Parker in a complete and shocking upset.
