Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero is set to defend his WBA light welterweight title on Amazon Prime PPV against 135-pound Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz in simultaneous bouts on March 30th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He expresses his excitement about returning to the ring for this event.

Lowry (15-1, 13 KOs) and Cruz will fight on the Tim Tzu vs. Keith Thurman undercard. The pricing for the PPV has not been disclosed yet, but it is anticipated to be around $70 or more.

Critics raise concerns

Fans believe that this strategy by Romero’s team is a smart move to enhance his popularity. There are plans for a rematch with Gervonta “Tank” Davis and a potential move to the 140-pound division to confront Lowry again, using the WBA title as leverage. Additionally, there is speculation about a unification match against WBC champion, Devin Haney.

Even if “Pitbull” Cruz (25-2-1, 17 KOs) emerges victorious against Lowry on March 30, there is a possibility of Tank Davis moving up to 140 for a rematch.

These fights are not highly anticipated by the boxing community. Instead, people are eager to see Tank fight Haney, Frank Martin, Shakur Stevenson, or Vasily Lomachenko.

There is little interest in witnessing Lowry or Pitbull Cruz face off against each other again, but this may happen after the outcomes of their match on March 30th are clear.

Romero defends his decision

“We are thrilled to debut on Amazon Prime. This is a significant and beneficial move for boxing. It will attract a large audience. I am grateful for this opportunity,” said Rolando “Rolly” Romero. Fight hype featured in PBC’s debut on Amazon Prime PPV on March 30, where he discussed facing lightweight Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz.

“It was always going to be me on the A-side. I am the champion,” Lowry stated, emphasizing that even if the next match was against Ryan Garcia instead of the lesser-known Pitbull Crews, he would be on the A-side. He discussed his belief in the potential outcome.

“Everyone is disappointed that I’m fighting Pitbull Cruz, but Pitbull Cruz is a tougher, stronger, and more durable fighter, though less exciting. Or?” [than Ryan Garcia]? Pursuing Pitbull Cruz demonstrates my courage [rather than fighting a 140-lb contender]. Boxing needs me,” Rory expressed.
