Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub quits stand-up comedy to focus on family: ‘I need to stay home more’

Brendan Schaub has decided to step back from his career as a stand-up comedian to prioritize his family.

Last week, he shared the distressing news that his baby daughter was hospitalized and in need of emergency surgery. The MMA community showed their support for Schaub during this challenging time, and thankfully, his daughter’s surgery was successful.

In a recent episode of his podcast, Schaub show, Schaub disclosed that he is prioritizing his family over his stand-up comedy career, which he has been dedicated to for over 10 years. While he hasn’t ruled out occasional local performances, he will no longer be touring extensively across the country or internationally.

“We had to cancel in Boston and Nashville,” Schaub said. “Normally I don’t like that, but this time I don’t care. That’s where I am. I have to go home more, I have to tour less. I have to go home. I’m tired. I’m so tired. I’ve been working hard for over 12 years. I have no intention of quitting. [podcasts]but when you’re on a plane, you need to relax.

We might do a few spots in LA SoCal, but no international work or crossing the US is going to happen right now. I’ll take a break from that. I just have to focus on my family and do what I have to do. ”

Schaub is a regular guest on various podcasts such as the fighter and the kid, co-hosted by fellow comedian Brian Cullen, and food truck diary. Additionally, he frequently appears on the joe rogan experience.
