Charles Radke secured a remarkable victory at UFC Vegas 85 with a stunning knockout.
The outspoken welterweight had been strategizing to connect with left hooks on Gilbert Urbina throughout the match, and when he finally landed the decisive blow, it was game over. Despite Urbina’s resilience in the face of an early left hand hit, Radke pressed on.
Moments later, Radtke delivered another powerful left hook, sending Urbina crashing to the mat with such force that the fight was called to a halt at 4:47 of the first round.
“I put him to sleep,” Radke declared. “After the fight, he can’t even stand here. My sons in the back made some money tonight instead of all the people who always treat me like an underdog.”
At the start of the match, Urbina attempted to utilize her reach advantage to establish her lead jab, but struggled to evade Radtke’s range. Radke persisted and eventually found the opening to unleash his devastating left hand.
As Urbina found herself on the defensive, Radtke landed a punch that sent her reeling, but the match continued. Knowing Urbina was vulnerable, Radke patiently waited for another opportunity.
Then, as Urbina retreated, Radke connected with a left hook that struck her squarely on the jaw, leading to her collapse and Radke’s victory, bringing his UFC record to 2-0.
Following his praise for teammate Belal Muhammad, who he described as the top contender in the welterweight division, Radke took a swipe at former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington in the post-fight interview.
“170 looks like shit right now, but I just want to let you guys know that I’m in the department that’s going to make it great again,” Radtke said. “Colby Covington still sucks.”
