PATERSON, N.J. — Zhilei Zhang’s dedication to training was evident on a snowy day in February. Despite the snowstorm, he made the 20-minute drive from his home in Bloomfield to the True Warriors Boxing Club in Paterson. Zhang, ranked No. 3 in the heavyweight division by THE RING, is preparing for his upcoming fight against Joseph Parker on March 8th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Zhang’s trainer, Sean George, emphasized Zhang’s commitment to his training, stating, “He comes here every day and calls me early in the morning to go for a run. He wants to work, he wants to win. It’s the same to this day, even now that he’s gained notoriety.”
As he prepares for his match against Joseph Parker, Zhang has a dedicated team supporting him, including his trainer, interpreter Kurt Lee, and fellow boxer Joe Cusumano, who will be joining him for training camp. Despite the challenges and setbacks, Zhang’s passion and determination remain unwavering.
