Ryo Taira faces his toughest challenge against former UFC title contender Tim Elliott.

The 24-year-old flyweight, Taira, is set to battle Elliott (20-13-1) at the UFC APEX event in Las Vegas on May 18th. source

Taira remains unbeaten in 15 professional matches, boasting a 5-0 record in the UFC. In his last fight at UFC Vegas 83, he secured a victory over Carlos Hernandez via second-round TKO.

37-year-old Elliott comes off a first-round submission win over Sumuda Elji in December. He has claimed victory in six of his last eight battles.

As per MMA fighting world rankings, Taira and Elliott hold the 13th and 15th positions, respectively.

Hill (16-13) holds a strong position in the 115-pound category, recently securing a unanimous decision triumph over 24-year-old prospect, Dennis Gomez. Hill, known as “Overkill”, has emerged victorious in three of her last four matches, including decisions against Emily Ducote and Loopy Godinez.

Pinheiro (11-2), a contender from the 2020 Contender Series, faced her first UFC defeat in November after being knocked out in the third round by Amanda Rivas. Despite this loss, she previously claimed victory in her first three UFC fights, including a split decision win over veteran Michelle Waterson-Gomez.

“Tiny Tornado” Torres returns to action.

After giving birth in June 2023, Torres (13-6) steps back into the Octagon to face 13th-ranked Tabitha Ricci (9-2) in a strawweight bout on May 11 at UFC St. Louis. The matchup was brought to light by Belal Muhammad on the “don’t forget the show” Podcast.

Torres’ last fight before her pregnancy resulted in a split decision loss to Mackenzie Dern at UFC 273 in April 2022. A mainstay in the strawweight division, she had triumphed in three consecutive bouts before the defeat against Dern.

Ricci looks to recover from her second UFC loss, a split decision defeat to Loopy Godinez at UFC 295. Following her initial UFC defeat, “Baby Shark” bounced back with four consecutive wins.

Also on the May 11 card, Matt Frevola will face seasoned lightweight Michael Johnson (as initially reported by Frevola himself), while Jake Hadley and Charles Johnson will clash in a flyweight encounter (First reported by Frevola). MMA Orbit.

Frevola (11-4-1) previously secured three consecutive first-round knockout victories before his defeat to Benoit St. Denis at UFC 295, where he was knocked out in just 91 seconds. He faces Johnson (22-19), a St. Louis native, garnering local support in his first fight since 2018.

Hadley (10-2) and Johnson (14-6) will compete in the 125-pound category. Hadley currently holds a 2-2 record, coming off a loss to Cody Darden, whereas Johnson snapped a three-game losing streak with a decision win over the undefeated Azat Maxam.

Eduarda Moura vs. Dennis Gomez

Undefeated strawweight Eduarda Moura is set to face fellow Brazilian Dennis Gomez at a Fight Night event on June 8th, at a location yet to be determined.

This report was first made by Eurosport.

Moura, part of the 2023 Contender Series, made an impactful UFC debut, securing a victory over Montserrat Conejo with strikes in the second round at UFC Sao Paulo in November of this year. She maintains a 10-0 professional record.

Gomez (8-3) is known as a finisher, with six of his wins coming by KO/TKO. While he obtained UFC victories over Yazmin Jauregui and Bruna Brazil, he faced decision losses to Angela Hill and Roma Lookboonmee.

With UFC Vegas 90 on April 6th approaching, here’s the latest lineup, featuring key changes at the top of the card.

Originally set for the middleweight main event against Marvin Vettori, Brendan Allen (23-5) now faces Chris Curtis (31-10, 1) following Vettori’s withdrawal. The re-match features Curtis stepping in on short notice. In their initial encounter in December 2021, Curtis secured a TKO victory over Allen in the second round.

Former UFC featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie (10-4) is set to battle Norma Dumont (10-2) in the co-main event. De Randamie, known as “The Iron Lady”, competes for the first time since October 2020, following her victory over Juliana Peña by guillotine choke. Dumont, having won six of seven fights, needs to prove her capability to make the bantamweight limit.
